Alaskan Halibut Lasagna

Sauteed halibut in butter with garlic and dried thyme. Halibut is layered with noodles, white sauce and Swiss cheese, and baked golden brown. Garnished with parsley.
Ingredients -
6 tablespoons Butter or Margarine, divided
1-1/2 pounds Halibut Steaks, bones removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
3/4 teaspoon Dried Thyme
1/3 cup All-Purpose Flour
1/2 teaspoon Coarse Salt
1-1/2 cups Chicken Broth
1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
8 ounces Lasagna Noodles, cooked and drained
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Swiss Cheese
minced Fresh Parsley, optional
 
Preparation:

1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine in large skillet over medium heat.

2. Add halibut pieces, minced garlic and dried thyme.

3. Cook halibut until fish easily flakes with fork, approximately 10 minutes.

4. Remove halibut pieces to plate.

5. Preheat oven to 350 F.

6. Add remaining butter to skillet.

7. Stir in all-purpose flour, coarse salt and stir until smooth. Cook mixture until browned.

8. Gradually stir in chicken broth and heavy whipping cream.

9. Bring mixture to a boil. Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly until thickened.

10. Grease 13 x 9 x 2 ceramic baking dish. Layer half the noodles, halibut, white sauce and Swiss cheese. Repeat layers.

11. Cover and bake 20 minutes. Let dish stand 15 minutes before serving.

12. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.

Halibut Steaks
Cook the fish until it browns and caramelizes. This adds a significant amount of flavor to the lasagna.
